What is PDO Thread Lift?

A PDO (polydioxanone) thread lift, often referred to as PDO Threads, is a non-surgical, minimally invasive treatment that can lift up and tighten aging, sagging skin. The treatment uses strategically placed dissolvable PDO sutures to instantly tighten and firm the skin while boosting the production of collagen and elastin. This gives you the effect of a face lift in about 45 minutes without surgery. You can treat multiple different areas including sagging eyebrows, forehead wrinkles, crow’s feet, laugh lines, cheeks, jawline, and chin wrinkles.

How does a PDO Thread Lift work?

The PDO threads are inserted under the skin using a blunt-tipped needle. When the needle is removed, the PDO thread remains under the skin providing instant support and lift to the area. The body’s natural response to this is to begin the healing process which increases collagen and elastin production over time and combats signs of aging. Since the PDO threads are biodegradable, they will naturally dissolve within 6 months, but the lifting effect will remain.

Q: Is there downtime with the PDO Thread Lift treatment?

A: Since the treatment is minimally invasive, recovery time is short. Usually clients can return to their regular activities within 1 week. Within the first 24-48 hours you may experience some swelling or bruising on the treatment area and the skin will feel very tight. During the week or two after treatment you want to avoid rubbing your face and pursing your lips, like when drinking from a straw or smoking. You should also sleep with your head propped up on a pillow to avoid rolling and laying on your face. Any dental treatments should also be avoided within the first two weeks following treatment as holding your mouth open for a long period of time can affect the results of your treatment.

Q: How long will my results last?

A: Results of the PDO Thread Lift can be seen and felt immediate after treatment. The skin will be noticeably tighter and appear more youthful. However, the duration of the results varies depending on your age and lifestyle. Even though the threads dissolve within 6 months, the effects due to the increase in collagen and elastin production will remain. Your results will peak about 6 after treatment and typically last up to 1 year, but can continue longer with annual maintenance.

A: During a consultation our licensed Medical Spa staff will go over pre and post care. Generally we advise the following: Discontinue the use of any anticoagulation supplements such as fish oil, vitamin e, Gingko Biloba, etc. Avoid all blood-thinning medications which can include ibuprofen and aspirin Avoid consuming alcohol and tobacco products at least 5 days prior to treatment Drink plenty of water for several days leading up to the treatment
